Against the wind Bob Seiger
We were runnin’ against the wind
We were young and strong, we were runnin’
Against the windThe years rolled slowly past
And I found myself alone
Surrounded by strangers I thought were my friends
I found myself further and further from my home
And I guess I lost my way
There were oh so many roads
I was living to run and running to live
Never worryied about paying or even how much I owed
Moving eight miles a minute for months at a time
Breaking all of the rules that would bend
I began to find myself searching
Searching for shelter again and again

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. Do not be like the horse or the mule, which have no understanding but must be controlled by bit and bridle or they will not come to you. Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord ’s unfailing love surrounds the one who trusts in him.
Psalms 32:8‭-‬10 NIV

Have you seen a horse with blinders? The farmer puts the blinders on to keep the horse focused and not be distracted by what is happening in his surroundings. The farmer guides the horse on the path he wants the horse to take. Whether the horse wants to or not, he has to rely on the farmer to guide him.

That is how we should be. We need to let God guide us. In the past, God’s direction for me was not always the direction I want to go. If I deviated from God’s path, there were consequences and the journey was usually rough. It was difficult for me to let go and let God guide me. I still struggle but would like to think my faith has grown stronger and it is easier for me.
